michael jackson was born on August 29, 1958, in Gary, Indiana. He was the eighth of ten children born to Joseph and Katherine Jackson. Michael showed an early interest in music and began performing with his siblings in the Jackson 5 at the age of six. The group quickly became a sensation, and they signed a record deal with Motown Records in 1968.
